KEN MACFARLANE CSPWC TWS

Ken was born and educated in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  He is an accomplished landscape artist, respected instructor and member of several art associations in Ontario.  Ken is an elected member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, a signature member of The Toronto Watercolour Society and a Honorary Member of the Bayview Watercolour Society.

His education and practical experience in technical illustration and design are complimented by tuition received from other Canadian and international artists.

Ken captures nature with fresh interpretations of the landscape.  His work is a unique blend of transparent washes, dry brush and subtle detail…techniques and styles associated with watercolour painting.

Ken has been very successful in juried shows and has received many awards for his watercolours.  Private and corporate collectors have acquired many of his original watercolours.  His studio/gallery in Laskay, Ontario in the Township of King (20 minutes north of Toronto) provides an ideal environment to conduct workshops and display his work.

He enjoys teaching and has conducted many successful well-attended workshops at different locations in Ontario.  Each workshop is prepared to share his knowledge and experience with painters at all levels.  The sessions are fun and contain many ideas and solutions, which the participants can use in their paintings to make them more successful.

He strongly believes transparent watercolour is a unique medium with elusive qualities – exciting qualities that make it different from other types of painting.
